I am having ENTIRELY too much fun in Logic Pro right now. I've taken the song I recorded back in May (https://virtualwolf.org/media/posts/2029), recorded a bass track with my guitar amp/load box/audio interface setup, and have turned it into this electronic-sounding thing. (Once I'm happy with it, I'll upload it.) Also, man, listening to this back again I can really hear that I sucked at keeping the guitar in time with the drums. 😛

A screenshot of incredible tackiness. In the middle is a "rack" with various guitar effects on it (harmonics, compression, output), all with actual dials that you need to awkwardly move with the mouse in order to adjust. At the top of the rack is a "Power Amp" section that has actual vacuum tubes that light up if you turn the power dials up. To the left and right it shows the "room" that you're recording in, with a full-size photo and a little version of the speaker cabinet you've selected, and the microphone you've selected mounted on a stand.

The load box comes with a license to use Two Notes' "Wall of Sound" DAW plugin that simulates speaker cabinets (with a limited selection of their full suite of available cabs), and it always amazes me how tacky audio software user interfaces tend to be. 😂

A photo of the very complicated user interface of Logic Pro with a recording from my drums. It shows the tempo across the song, and it varies from 118bpm to just under 122bpm which isn't bad given I was aiming for 120!

I ordered a laptop stand so I could have my laptop hooked up to my drums in a more useful position, it arrived today and fits perfectly! So much better than having it dodgily perched on the luggage to the left there. 😛 I also discovered that Logic Pro has a thing where it can pick up the tempo of what you're playing and it lets you adjust it after the fact! I'm a bit shit at keeping time, but I recorded a section by trying to keep a count in my head ("ONE and TWO and THREE and FOUR and") and I actually ended up surprisingly close to 120bpm the whole time.
