Tonight Beanie finally met the next-door neighbour's dog Salem and it went fine! I was out taking him for a walk around the block, and we ran into Salem and the neighbour out the front of a house around the corner. Beanie of course went feral, but I got the neighbour to do the thing that a dog trainer did YEARS ago where we picked both dogs up and let Beanie give the other dog a good sniff, then put them back down. After that there was a bit of dancing back and forth as they continued to sniff each other for a bit, but once they were over it that was pretty much that and they mostly just ignored each other while the neighbour and I chatted. Very interested to see how Beanie goes next time we run into them, if he remembers Salem or not. It seems to be just the initial introduction to new dogs that he has a problem with, once he's had a sniff he's fine.

Beanie's certainly made himself comfortable this morning. ...in fact, I just realised that we've had him for nine years as of today! (We got him as a rescue dog when he was just over a year old.)

A photo taken from my point of view of a small scruffy blonde dog that's wedged himself into the very small gap between my leg and the arm of the lounge. There's a laptop on my lap and his head is resting up on the arm of the lounge.

Beanie does NOT like this thunderstorm, he's currently extremely wedged next to me on the lounge even though it's far too warm for wedging. On the bright side, he seems to be calm and isn't panting or shaking anymore, so that's good.

Today is Beanie's tenth birthday! @yayKM is in the office today, and whenever that's the case, rather than snoozing with us at the back of the house in our home office, he spends most of his time outside sniffing the breeze and listening to all the neighbourhood noises. He just absolutely does not care what I'm up to if @yayKM isn't home, heh.
