Granted I was already mostly done when I took that last photo and it mostly just required tweaking and mixing, but I present to you the finished product! Very happy with how this came out, and I'm even happier with the fact that Logic Pro's quantise functionality also works on audio files to get them into time as well. π
I called this "Alchemy" mostly because the genesis of it was me playing around on my MIDI keyboard with the "Alchemy" plugin when I discovered that female choir preset. I also played around more with getting the reverb right, added compression for the first time (I'd never really played around with that before), and made very good use of the new "Mastering Assistant" feature that came with latest Logic Pro update, it really made a hell of a difference in how good the final mix sounded.
It look longer than expected, but it's finally here! π
The keys are _very_ nice-feeling, there's a really good weight to them. And I haven't read the manual yet so I have no idea what this is about, but the very lowest key is marked "Panic".
I've decided to continue my musical journey and get a MIDI keyboard and actually learn how to play it! π
I actually had an M-Audio something-or-other keyboard ages ago (nearly twenty years in fact: https://virtualwolf.org/media/posts/1423) but in a similar story to my guitar from 2007, due to the lack of decent learning resources I never actually stuck with it. It turns out that the "Melodics" app I use for learning drums _also_ includes a whole course for keyboard as well so I'm going to take full advantage of it!
I did a bunch of looking around and settled on this, the Roland A-49. The reviews are all glowing and apparently the key feel is very good as well. I could have gotten the black version and probably had it in my hands this week because the white one doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere, but I think the white looks far cleaner and sleeker.
WOO! My keyboard arrived today! π And itβs fucking huge. And Iβm well aware I have absolutely no musical talent whatsoever. π GarageBand has a metronome so you can keep time while youβre playing... I couldnβt keep time even with it on, heh. But dammit, I will persevere! π
