I was in the office again for another after-work jam session, and this time we did almost zero playing along to real songs and spent most of the time improvising! I started on bass which was a bit dicier because I required that I actually figured out what the hell notes I was playing (though I DID actually correctly remember the typical progression for a 12-bar blues which I was quite pleased with, as well as which notes it should be!), but we got over that hump and got some pretty cool grooves, and then I switched to drums and we got a particularly awesome minor key thing going with me playing the eighth notes on the low tom.

The sunset before I headed over to our music room was decent too!

A photo of the sun just above the horizon and extremely orange. The sky is filled with mottled clouds and the only real gap is where the sun is. In the foreground are tall city buildings that peter out into smaller houses as you go further west towards the horizon. It's a bit overly-HDRed because it was a very quick snap with the built-in iOS Camera app.

And then the farewell drinks after work today featured a very good doggo named Delphi and an excellent sunset (ignore the awful reflections from the indoor lighting).

A photo taken from the ferry on the way back to Circular Quay, it's mostly the waters of Sydney Harbour with, uh, one of the tiny islands in the middle and very foresty-looking shores in the distance.

I'm in the office for FOUR DAYS this week! We've got a team event yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and a farewell for a colleague on Friday. Last night we went to the Arthouse Hotel for dinner and waited almost two hours for our food (it was good when it arrived but not worth the wait). Plenty of good chatting to colleagues while waiting though.

Today we took the bus to Rushcutters Bay and had a picnic at a park, then caught the ferry back to Circular Quay, it was extremely #GloriousSydney areas (although the very bushfire-smoke-laden walk from the train station back to home was not at all glorious).

A view looking out west over Sydney from the 30th floor of our office building. The sky is very cloudy and angry-looking, and it's bucketing down with rain in the distance.

I'm in the office today for after work Kill Team, and it is NOT looking pleasant out there. Hopefully the trains haven't melted down by the time I need to get home. 😬

We took advantage of the GLORIOUS weather today and went for a walk around Fagan Park. You seriously couldn't have asked for a nicer day.

A photo taken from the 30th floor of our office building, looking west across Sydney and Darling Harbour. There's lots of buildings lower than us, it's all overcast and dreary-looking.

I went into the city today for an in-person farewell lunch for our intern, but it turns out she came down sick and couldn't make it. 😞 Completely miserable day too, cold and dreary and rainy. On the bright, the views are still decent and we got Schnitz for lunch!

I came into the office today to pick up the last of the personal belongings I'd left here from March of 2020 and to play some more Kill Team after work, and man, the views from here never get old.
