I don't think you can tell from the photo, but there's a good three or four bees buzzing around our lavender at the moment! Now, hopefully these lavenders don't randomly up and die like the last two lots did (granted the previous ones were in the ground and the soil is CRAZY thick with clay here, so I think that significantly contributed to their demise).

Phew, that was a productive morning! Remulched the front garden and rearranged the plants, and laid weed mat under the trees to the right as well as adding mulch there too. And did the mowing too.

Oh man, I used our new electric lawn mower and whippersnipper today and it was an absolute DELIGHT. No fucking around with the stupid starter cord on the mower and it cuts so nicely. The whippersnipper has tons of power as well and lengthening the line is gloriously easy.

That was an excellent last mental-health-Friday off. Got all the new garden equipment (sans mower) mounted tidily on the wall in the garage, and also put in a bunch of new hooks in on the other side to similarly neaten up the stuff that was hanging there. I also took the opportunity to take the new blower for a spin to clean the floor of the garage out a bit. It's got a "Turbo" button, and HOO BOY am I glad I had the arm strap attached because it was actively pushing backwards against me!

We've also gone whole-hog and replaced ALL of our outdoor gardening equipment with battery-powered stuff from a company called EGO. It's apparently extremely well-regarded and is as good as petrol so I'm keen to see how it goes.

It's 30°C and 12% humidity, and I've powerwashed the back patio and mowed the lawns. #pooped (Give me this dryness over a humid day anytime).

What a glorious morning for a spot of gardening.

Hell yeah, that's a damn fine-looking front yard!

Fortunately I was able to trim our front hedge this morning before it got really hot. (Even so, it wasn't even 10am when I'd finished and it was already 32°).

Phew, first project of the long weekend done. We've got a section of the yard around the back where the hot water system and air conditioner live and where nobody ever goes that just constantly gets choked with weeds. I pulled up as much as I could and sprayed it with weed killer. And now, I'm pooped.
