Met the extremely lovely @[email protected] and their equally lovely partner tonight! We went to the Japanese place that's just around the corner from where we're staying, and while it was quite tasty, surprisingly the place we went to in Midland the other night was better.

Today's activities were Rottnest Island and quokkas!

You could not have asked for a more perfect day, it's been completely sunny with an absolutely glorious breeze, and we've walked 13k steps/10 kilometres. Currently just chilling while we wait for the ferry back to the mainland.

Today we went to Perth Zoo, which to be honest was very underwhelming. We did get to see an orangutan sitting with its arms crossed and a blanket or something over itself keeping an eye on everyone though. There was a also section with a bunch of those little monkeys in it, I don't remember what sort, but they were absolutely zooming around and yelling at each other, which was fun to watch. After that we wandered around the CBD a bit and then headed back home because we were pooped. I took a handful of photos but nothing amazing.

A photo looking upwards at the outside of the Museum of Western Australia, with the old brick building that looks like it's from probably the late 1800s/early 1900s sitting below a modern building, but there's a big vertical gap between the two. Very Independence Day vibes.

A photo of a massive statue of... uh... one of the really long-necked herbivore dinosaurs that is a classic and everyone knows, whose name is escaping me right now. It has brown skin and is absolutely towering above the rest of the exhibits and people around it.

Today we walked to the art museum which was fantastic (I took some photos with the DSLR, processing will come later), and then went to the Museum of Western Australia which is REALLY good, and massive and we didn't actually end up going fully through all of it because we wanted to get home and chill before heading out to see @ohthyme.

There's a newer part built on top of an older building, and from street level it honestly looks like the new part is somehow hovering above the old, it's such a cool effect. Also, it's not a real museum unless it has a GIANT dinosaur, and this one definitely delivered.

A screenshot taken in Cyberpunk 2077 on the Xbox. It's a city street at night at ground level, looking across a pedestrian crossing towards a bunch of tall buildings rising up in the background, high contrast and lots of neon signs everywhere, and it's pretty much what you think of when you hear the term "cyberpunk".

Another screenshot, similar aesthetic as the first with some tall buildings in the background, but this feels decidedly dingier and much lower-rent. It's looking down into a set of shops below street level, with a big blue neon "HOTEL" sign in the middle and a bunch of cables crisscrossing the space above it, and there are some red Chinese-style lanterns hanging from the eaves of a building at the right.

Man, they've certainly done a fantastic job with the art direction for Cyberpunk 2077! Absolutely top-notch cyberpunk aesthetic right here. I'm very early-on in the game so I imagine it gets even better.

Having forgotten about Cyberpunk 2077, and also having forgotten how to play it, I decided to start a new character and maybe actually play more than a couple of hours this time.

Unfortunately the lack of being able to use a Southpaw control scheme means I'm absolutely ATROCIOUS at aiming at anything, so I'm playing on easy difficulty and will be primarily leaning on not actually shooting at stuff for this playthrough, hopefully it's not too frustrating — I have an extremely low tolerance for frustration at video games these days. (I can swap the control sticks around at the Xbox controller level, but that fucks things up in a bunch of other ways like navigating through menus, so I'm going to just have to see how it goes. For the love of $DEITY, game devs, JUST LET ME REMAP CONTROLS!)
