Part three of The Weekend of Deliciousness is bread, for the first time since March! The yeast I've been using expired in June last year so I've just slowly been increasing the amount that I use and it seems to be fine. Lunch was mushrooms cooked in sage, rosemary, thyme, and garlic on top of cooked tomatoes on the bread.
And the SECOND I start slicing the bread Beanie is in the kitchen like a shot because he knows there'll be crumb fallout, and he always gets a little end piece of bread when I'm done.
Finally did another batch of bread, and hot damn does it look good. My bread log says the last batch I made was right before Christmas!
(I've been enjoying making big batches of rice-based lunches in the pressure cooker and just bunging that into the microwave to have for lunch when working rather than making bread, so I can spend less time getting a toastie prepared and cooked and more time doing drum practice.)
That was a food-laden morning! Made a batch of bread and some miso chocolate chip cookies, then had a delicious toastie for lunch. In the process I used every single square centimetre of horizontal surface available in the kitchen.
What a delicious day that was. Mushrooms cooked in sage, rosemary, and garlic with cooked tomatoes on my home-made bread, with sharp cheddar cheese sprinkled on top for lunch, then I made miso chocolate chip cookies this afternoon.
On the back of the giant sack of bread flour I've got there's a few recipes for various things, and one of them is damper. I decided to finally get around to making it and it looks pretty good, though I'm not entirely sure what happened with the splitting there.
