And that's the Tyranids kill team assembled! (Though not undercoated because it's been raining today and the spray undercoat doesn't go on smooth if it's really humid, which makes your paint job look like shit). Next task is going to be actually PAINTING all of these miniatures, heh.

I don't have a problem, I swear.

And done, that's now one of every available operative type and weapon! Really happy with how the plague spewer guy came out. The guy with the meltagun was tricky as well because I had to hack the bolter he was carrying carefully around the tentacle so I could re-use it for the gun.

With the new edition of Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team coming out and all the changes to squad composition (generally speaking you can only have a single type of special weapon in each squad), I'm doing some converting of my as-yet-unpainted miniatures! Most of them I could just break the glue apart on the arm joints, but for the guy in the middle, his arms were one single piece connected to half the torso, so I had to hack through the whole arm at the shoulder.

Birthday haul! This should keep me going for a while. And I'm getting another three Warhammer Underworlds warbands from my parents when we see them weekend after next. 😅our house warhammer 40k darkroom games workshop presents warhammer underworlds adeptus mechanicus the crimson court hrothgorn's mantrappers

I was having a bit of a struggle with my new drybrushes, you can't tell too much from my previous photos of Lady Harrow's Mournflight, but I couldn't get the drybrushing to come out properly all the time, it kept globbing and looking like crap. I decided to carefully watch Artis Opus' tutorial video and do some experimenting and, counterintuitively, it turns out I was actually taking TOO MUCH paint off the brush! Because the new brushes are so big and thick and soft compared to what I'm used to using (an EXTREMELY ratty old Games Workshop drybrush), you actually need to leave more paint on the brush and just really gently flick the end of the brush across the surface. Check out this gorgeous gradient I did tonight, I think I've got the hang of it now!

I've been taking proper photos of my Games Workshop miniatures and posting them to Flickr, mum saw them and emailed to say she was very impressed and that I hadn't lost my touch. She ALSO mentioned that she had photos of me when I was much younger having a Warhammer 40,000 battle with her on the dining room table! She brought them over and I scanned them in and cleaned them up, and oh boy, check out the youth and the serious expression. 😂 There was a date on the back of July 1996, so I was 13! I'm playing my Eldar, but I think I must have borrowed a friend's what looks like Orks because those miniatures at the far end of the table are definitely not mine!

There we go, all the terrain is put together (miniatures included for scale)! Really happy with how it's ended up, the bits that are already silver are the pieces of the old terrain that I incorporated into the new bits. For the pipes I actually pulled them apart and reattached them in new ways, for the walkway at the left I just glued it as it was onto the side of the new one.

Aw yeah, got two sets of more of the type of terrain that comes in the Kill Team box. I'm thinking of pulling apart a couple of the existing pieces that I have and attaching some of this to it (it's all interchangeable and I've only fully painted two pieces so far, the rest is just base-coated).
