Media - seven hills
We had a four-player game of Kill Team today! Turns out I'm pretty shit at playing my team (Imperial Guard) and I barely did anything and got mostly shot off the board. I came third and that was because the fourth guy was having fun just blowing shit up and wasn't actually playing objectives, heh. Though in retrospect, I don't think the terrain was really set up very well, there was a lack of heavy cover around the deployment zones which meant I had to be bunched up and in conceal to avoid being murdered on the first turn.darkroom gaming kill team games workshop astra militarum seven hills chaos space marines space marines octarius adeptus custodes

Mid-week #WarhammerUnderworlds with @[email protected]! This time it was me playing the tricksy Skaven, Skittershank's Clawpack, and him playing Khagra's Ravagers. I'd played the Clawpack once before and it went disastrously poorly, but it seems to depend entirely on the cards you draw and when. This time was FAR better, there were lots of fun things to do and we ended up calling it at the end of the second round when I was ahead 13-7 and @[email protected] had only a single fighter left.darkroom gaming warhammer underworlds direchasm khagra's ravagers seven hills harrowdeep skittershank's clawpack

First game of Kill Team: Into The Dark! Heavy Intercessors vs. Astra Militarum Scions. Really enjoying this format, it was a hell of a close game, sadly I lost 6-7, mostly due to a couple of mistakes on my part.

And tonight's Wednesday night gaming was Warhammer Underworlds! Khagra's Ravagers versus Grashrak's Despoilers. The Despoilers were mine, made with the new Nemesis format, and while I won 12-8, I don't think the Tooth and Claw deck is the right one for them, they're a bit too fragile to be wading into combat.darkroom gaming games workshop warhammer underworlds beastgrave direchasm grashrak's despoilers khagra's ravagers seven hills

Excellent NYE thus far, good weather for a pool party and throwing water balloons.

Mid-week gaming this week was a FOUR-player game of Warhammer Underworlds! Unsurprisingly we only got through one round, but one of the players hadn't even played before. I managed to eke out a win on 8 glory, and Kristina came back from nowhere to finish on 7.darkroom gaming games workshop warhammer underworlds direchasm the dread pageant lady harrow's mournflight kainan's reapers seven hills nethermaze the shadeborn champions of dreadfane

We went over to a friend's house tonight to play the new Magic/Warhammer 40,000 cross-over decks that Wizards of the Coast released and man they're fun. (The fun levels were definitely increased by me absolutely stomping him on three occasions, though the fourth game was a lot less one-sided). They did such a good job of combining the two, and the artwork on all the cards is magnificent and extremely 40K.

Mid-week gaming was X-wing again, but this time we had TOO much stuff going on! Definitely need to tone it back for next time, fewer ships and fewer upgrades. We only got two rounds in, and nobody actually blew anyone up. It was pretty chaotic, but also fun. On the plus side, my newly-starred board looked fantastic. 😁

Mid-week gaming this week was X-wing, which I haven't played since 2016 when we played in the office after work with @[email protected] (https://virtualwolf.org/media/posts/350)! I've got a ton of miniatures but it'd been so long we stripped it back to the bare minimum core set of one X-wing and two TIE Fighters and no upgrades, just to get the hang of things again. We got two games in and both times the Empire won, even though we switched sides. We also had this magnificent moment where the X-wing and one of the TIE Fighters ended up SO CLOSE to touching it was ridiculous. 😂 There's a 2.0 version of X-wing which I'm totally going to pick up, apparently they've streamlined a bunch of stuff and actually moved all the points values off the cards and anywhere that's printed so they can update it as they go to keep power levels in check, and not have sprawling broken things they struggle to control. There was a really interesting interview about everything that's new with one of the co-designers of the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8Ilk4HYO6Q

We played another (partial) game of Kill Team tonight! And for the first time EVER, everything was fully painted. 😮 We only got a turn and a half in thanks to us taking a while to set everything up, but we're definitely getting the hang of it. I was playing Death Guard, and they have a rule called "Disgustingly Resilient" where if they would lose a wound, you roll a D6 and on a roll of 5+ the wound is not lost. It doesn't matter how many wounds, just ANY wound. One of them was attacked and was going to be dealt 9 wounds (out of a total of 12), but my Disguisingly Resilient roll was amazing and I was able to reduce it down to 4. 😂
