I was facing Space Marines but you can't see them in the photo because they're all in cover and not visible from this point.

Had another game of Kill Team at @[email protected]'s place tonight. In news that will surprise nobody, we only got through two rounds, and I lost. The first round started well, but it all fell apart in the second. I'm pretty sure the only time I've won with the Voidscarred is when I've played a horrendously imbalanced game against one of the not-very-good Compendium teams. 😕

A photo of a game of Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team. The board looks like the metal of the inside of an ancient steampunk starship, and the terrain is a bunch of walls all connected together in the same steampunk style to form number of interconnecting rooms. On the left are my forces, the Aeldari (think space elves) in elegant fuchsia-coloured armour, and facing them on the other side of the board are the Elucidian Starstriders, a motley assortment of lightly armoured humans.

Kill Team tonight, my Voidscarred versus the Elucidian Starstriders. I lost yet again, 13-10, though in my defence I'd never actually played against the Starstriders before so didn't have a handle on what they were like and boy do they have some unpleasant tricks. I also keep underestimating just how far stuff can move in a given turn and so fucked up the positioning of my troops on more than one occasion, and as per usual I completely forgot about all their equipment.

A photo of the board at the start of a game of Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team. The terrain is all rusty-looking and generally ruined, with several very ramshackle structures. Closest to the camera are my Coirsair Voidscarred, basically lithe space elves in fuchsia armour and turquoise cloaks, at the back right are the Veteran Guardsmen, a bunch of regular human warriors with big overcoats and all wearing gas masks, and at the back left are the Warp Coven, big heavily armoured super-human Chaos Space Marines whose armour is green with gold trim and they've got a very Egyptian feel to them.

We had a three-player game of Kill Team today, Corsair Voidscarred vs. Veteran Guard vs. Warp Coven! ...it didn't go well, I still don't really know what I'm doing with my Voidscarred and I keep forgetting their ploys. 😞 It was fun enough to play, but by the end of the second turn the scores were 10 to Veteran Guard, 4 to me, and 0 to Warp Coven, and there was exactly one miniature left of the Warp Coven which I killed in my first activation of the third turn before he could activate. 😅 We ended up calling it there because there was no possible way I could win. There were just too many Guardsmen to deal with, and like half of my team is short-ranged so several of them didn't even do ANYTHING before they were killed. There was also some spell that the Warp Coven Sorcerer cast in the second turn that utterly fucked me in particular, where nobody gets the extra 2" movement for charges and when you dash you lose 2" of range so you end up being able to dash all of 1". The Voidscarred rely heavily on their free dash, so... yeah. The terrain we played on was fantastic, but I've decided I prefer the Into The Dark board setup because the first turn is easy (nobody is going to be able to shoot each other because the doors are all closed), and there's no vantage points to worry about either.

A close-up of one of the bits of action. One of my Aeldari, who has dark skin with a bald head and a cool top-knot ponytail thing going on and is wielding two nasty-looking pistols, is standing right between two of the Sisters of the Battle, while a third Sister looks on.

And after work, an introductory game of Kill Team for one of my co-workers! He'd never played before so we only got through two turns since I was explaining the rules as we went. Play of the match went to Adrenra Firewinter, my Starstorm Duellist, who ran into the teeth of the enemy and melted the enemy Sister with the meltagun and took the other one down to two wounds remaining. (She in turn was melted by the Sister Superior's combi-melta, but ah well.) Next time I definitely need to remember to bring one of my own Compendium teams for introductory games though. Might be a good opportunity to break out the ol' Death Guard again.

A photo of the ten miniatures that are my Corsair Voidscarred squad. They're essentially space elf pirates, all their armour is elegant and flowing and a rich burgundy colour, and they have cool turquoise capes. They're branding various ranged and close-combat weapons, and several of them have brightly-coloured mohawks. They each have a personalised name plate attached to the front of their bases, with a smaller bit of text on top that gives the unit type ("Fate Dealer", "Soul Weaver", "Way Seeker", and other such cool-sounding things), and a larger piece of text along the bottom that gives the unit's actual name, which are all sort-of Celtic feeling.

There we go, the nameplates for my Corsair Voidscarred are done and attached!

A photo of ten rounded nameplates that attach to the front of the base of a Warhammer miniature. There's a big section around the base with the unit's actual name and then a smaller section on top with what type of unit they are. The unit names are sort-of Celtic as befits Aeldari, and the types include cool things like "Shade Runner", "Felarch", "Way Seeker", and "Fate Dealer".

A few weeks ago I came across a post where someone had taken photos of their Warhammer 40,000 Kill Teams squad that had little nameplates on the front. Turns out there's a place in the UK that 3D prints custom nameplates with your own text on them in a variety of styles and fonts (https://www.versatileterrain.co.uk) so I ordered some for my Voidscarred and they arrived today! They're very cleverly attached to the printing bases only at the very back of the plate, so I'm going to leave them as they are for ease of painting and only chop them off right at the end of the process once they're all done and ready to go onto the miniature bases.

A photo of a game of Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team played on two regular boards. The terrain is a bunch of steampunk-looking walls and the boards have artwork on them that looks like the inside of an ancient rusty starship. At the bottom left are my miniatures, nine lithe space elves in fucshia armour and turquoise cloaks. At the top are fourteen just human troopers, and at the bottom left are fourteen essentially also human troopers but all corrupted and evil.

Three player Kill Team today! ...it did not go well for me and wasn't even close. We only got through two turns and I only scored one single victory point right at the end of the second turn. I killed stuff, but my initial positioning was poor and tried to do too much at once, especially since I had only nine miniatures compared to the fourteen of the other two teams. By the end of the second turn I was down to only three miniatures left, the friend in second was down to I think four, and the friend in first still had ten out of his fourteen starting.

First game of Kill Team with my Voidscarred tonight! It was against the Sisters of Battle, I won 18-13. Really enjoyed this layout from the new Critical Tac-Ops, it required a lot of strategising about where to go and which hatches to open when. The Voidscarred are so much fun to play, they've got lots of things they can do and the free Dash action every turn is brilliant, it makes them incredibly fast to move around. Good LORD the Sisters' "Divine Intervention" tactical ploy that lets them ignore the damage from a single attack dice was a pain though. It would have been four or five times I was about to kill a miniature and my opponent was able to pull that off to save them! Favourite moment was absolutely melting one unit with my Starstorm Duellist's dual fusion pistol, shooting another with her shuriken pistol, and then using the Way Seeker's Warp Fold psychic power to swap positions with the Duellist and proceed to beat down on another unit that was next to the one I'd just melted. I ended up sweeping up and around the top to claim six objectives, while my forces at the bottom ended up getting annihilated and not accomplishing a whole lot, though it DID end up with a bunch of my opponent's forces down there without being able to get to anywhere useful so it worked out well enough in the end.

A photo of ten Astra Militarum Tempestus Scions (basically regular humans with guns in armour). The leader is in the middle and standing on a piece of industrial machinery aiming a plasma pistol and has her black cape billowing out dramatically behind her. They others are all wearing big blue-grey armour and are wielding various guns, they've all got black or brown skin, and they all look extra bad-ass because they're wearing red berets and a couple of them have sunglasses on. The bases are done so they all look like they're standing in snow.

I had entirely too much fun setting up a proper group shot for my Voidscarred and Scions today.

Two of them have bright coloured mohawks and are holding big alien-looking guns up, one has two large swords and is holding one out in front of him like he's pointing it something, another has a full helmet on and is holding a tall staff with a blue gem at the top, and the last one has a shock of bright red hair and is holding a sword in front of him like he's inspiring the troops, and has a long alien rifle in his other hand.

My last five Corsair Voidscarred for Kill Team are done, and that's now the whole squad finished! Very excited to take them for a spin.
