A photo looking directly up at the sky with six black and yellow helicopters mid-flight. The three at the front are in triangle formation and the three at the rear are in the same formation but a bit further back. The sky is blue and filled with wispy clouds.

Very weird thing just earlier this evening as I was leaving the house to pick @yayKM up from the station: I heard this unusually noisy helicopter sound, looked around and it wasn't a single helicopter but SIX, all flying in formation! They kept that exact formation the whole way until I lost sight of them behind the trees.

Right, I think I'm calling my first piece done! (Miniatures on top for scale.)

I might go back and add some rust or otherwise general weathering, but I'll get the rest of the terrain finished first.

A photo of the two corner pieces of the Kill Team: Hivestorm terrain. They're simultaneously gothic and also sort of steampunk, with pipes running over them and two huge skulls designs. The pieces have been heavily drybrushed in grey, the metal doors and barred windows are an orange/red colour and the pipes are a rich brown. They're not fully finished yet, but look absolutely striking even in their partially completed state!

For a handful of hours work, this is coming along absolutely smashingly!

It's aliiiiiive!

Three crash cymbals are go, and the drum module is smart enough to assign a different crash sound to each of the inputs (the default single crash that it came with, the extra "Crash 2" input, AND the third one that's just marked "AUX") if you have it set to the correct cymbal type, so no mucking around needed.

New gear day! 🎉 A Fender Player II Stratocaster, and upgraded cymbals for my drum kit (CY-16RT ride cymbal and CY-14CT crash cymbal, both Roland).

Mannys only had one of the crash cymbals in stock so I'm still waiting on the second to arrive, as well as a Boss ME-90B bass guitar multi-effects pedal. I haven't had a chance to play with the Strat yet, but MAN the new cymbals are nice, they have a far better feel to them than the stock ones, and the new ride cymbal has three trigger zones on it, so you get the bell sound in the very middle too.

I'm currently trying to see if I can fit another cymbal mount on there to use with the last input on my drum module so I can make use of one of the now-spare CY-8 cymbals as a third crash... 🤔

The Indian family who lives behind us has several kids and they like to kick balls around their backyard, which means they often end up over the fence in our yard.

I just had FIVE kids and the dad show up at our front door and ask if they could get the two balls that'd just ended up in our yard (I'm not 100% sure whether all five of the kids actually live there or not, they tend to have a lot of family visiting). The three girls were all dressed in identical red dresses, those really pretty traditional-looking Indian ones, and the two boys were all neat and tidy and formal-looking with long pants and long sleeves.

I asked if they wanted to have me throw the balls back over or if they wanted to come and get them, and one of the boys said he'd come in, then the other eagerly asked if he could come too. They came into the lounge room and exclaimed with complete sincerity, "Wow, your house looks amazing!" 😂

I've got all the windows in the house open right now, and while it's absolutely glorious, it's also slightly windy.

Recording the bass and drums for @futzle@old.mermaid.town's upcoming Christmas song has gotten me into the mood to try record a short little something of my own. 👀

I'm trying to do some kind of cool minor pentatonic thing, we'll see how it actually comes out. 😅 I've got the bass riff recorded so far and it's sounding pretty good, next stop is some lead guitar over the top of it. (The MIDI keyboard may or may not end up being made use of in the final product.)
