Closest to the camera are my forces, the Aeldari (think space elves) in elegant fuchsia-coloured armour, and facing them on the other side of the board are ten heavily-armoured human warrior women in black armour and red cloaks, all with striking white hair.

A close-up of one of the bits of action. One of my Aeldari, who has dark skin with a bald head and a cool top-knot ponytail thing going on and is wielding two nasty-looking pistols, is standing right between two of the Sisters of the Battle, while a third Sister looks on.

And after work, an introductory game of Kill Team for one of my co-workers! He'd never played before so we only got through two turns since I was explaining the rules as we went. Play of the match went to Adrenra Firewinter, my Starstorm Duellist, who ran into the teeth of the enemy and melted the enemy Sister with the meltagun and took the other one down to two wounds remaining. (She in turn was melted by the Sister Superior's combi-melta, but ah well.)

Next time I definitely need to remember to bring one of my own Compendium teams for introductory games though. Might be a good opportunity to break out the ol' Death Guard again.

A photo of our dining table with a Warhammer Quest game set up on it. There's lots of cards and dice everywhere, and in middle are a bunch of variously-shaped tiles connected together that look like the inside of fantasy buildings. There's four hero miniatures at the top (one heavily-armoured warrior woman with a sword, a vampire hunter with a long leather coat and a big hat, a steampunk dwarf, and a priest with a rich red robe and a big staff) plus four groups of hostile miniatures at various points on the board (three skeletal warriors, three rat swarms, three bat swarms, and a lone vampire with a very long sword).

@yayKM and I played our first proper game of Warhammer Quest tonight! The miniatures were 95% painted (the heroes just need some finishing touches on their bases, and the "mysterious objects" weren't finished yet because I only started them this afternoon), and it looked great.

It was going to be just a "Get used to the rules" sort of game, but we played through a whole game and figured we might as well make it the first real game and we'll continue with the storyline next game. Unfortunately we didn't roll too well on the end-of-game event table and our heroes are all going to be starting the next game with one wound counter already because they were hurt fighting off the undead that were trying to overwhelm the airship that is our mobile base of operations.

I broke out a game of Warhammer Quest just by myself tonight to familiarise myself with the rules. I didn't make it all the way through the whole quest, but it's pretty fun and I've definitely got the hang of things now. Excited to play it with @yayKM soon!

(And it'll look even better once the miniatures are all painted.)

More Warhammer Underworlds tonight, my murder-ladies versus @yayKM's filthy goatmen. We ended up calling it after the first activation of the third round because she had exactly one 2-wound character left and I was ahead 8-5. Unfortunately I think it might be time to retire the goatmen, or at least until I can get around to stealing someone's Championship format deck, they're just too weak. 😞

We played another game of Warhammer Underworlds tonight, @yayKM's filthy goatmen versus my even filthier and significantly more pustulant devotees of Nurgle. It was the lowest scoring game we've had in ages, I managed to get to 9 glory but only right at the end, and @yayKM only got 2. However, she can take solace in the fact that on no fewer than three occasions she needed to roll a critical success in order to not die (essentially rolling a 6 on a regular six-sided die), and managed to pull it off!

Once we'd finished I came back around the lounge to get the bag and put all the pieces away and Beanie had made himself extremely comfortable next to one of the foam trays.

We played some more Warhammer Underworlds tonight, my sneaky tricksy Skaven versus @yayKM's filthy goatmen. I ended up winning 11-8 but MAN was it tight right up until my very last activation of the whole game. The attacks I made in my second last and last activations were absolutely critical, because had I flubbed them — or had @yayKM successfully defended — she would have won 8-5 instead. Fully SIX glory came from killing her leader (two for killing him because he was a Large fighter, and another four from three different objectives)!

At the bottom left are my miniatures, nine lithe space elves in fucshia armour and turquoise cloaks. At the top are fourteen just human troopers, and at the bottom left are fourteen essentially also human troopers but all corrupted and evil.

Three player Kill Team today!

...it did not go well for me and wasn't even close. We only got through two turns and I only scored one single victory point right at the end of the second turn. I killed stuff, but my initial positioning was poor and tried to do too much at once, especially since I had only nine miniatures compared to the fourteen of the other two teams. By the end of the second turn I was down to only three miniatures left, the friend in second was down to I think four, and the friend in first still had ten out of his fourteen starting.

First game of Warhammer Underworlds in a while, and my first outing with the Exiled Dead! @yayKM won 9-7 with Grashrak's Despoilers, and I realised I was playing a couple of things wrong and also misread one of my objectives.

It was a lot of fun though, and the shenanigans with Exiled Dead are fantastic.

First game of Kill Team with my Voidscarred tonight! It was against the Sisters of Battle, I won 18-13. Really enjoyed this layout from the new Critical Tac-Ops, it required a lot of strategising about where to go and which hatches to open when.

The Voidscarred are so much fun to play, they've got lots of things they can do and the free Dash action every turn is brilliant, it makes them incredibly fast to move around. Good LORD the Sisters' "Divine Intervention" tactical ploy that lets them ignore the damage from a single attack dice was a pain though. It would have been four or five times I was about to kill a miniature and my opponent was able to pull that off to save them!

Favourite moment was absolutely melting one unit with my Starstorm Duellist's dual fusion pistol, shooting another with her shuriken pistol, and then using the Way Seeker's Warp Fold psychic power to swap positions with the Duellist and proceed to beat down on another unit that was next to the one I'd just melted. I ended up sweeping up and around the top to claim six objectives, while my forces at the bottom ended up getting annihilated and not accomplishing a whole lot, though it DID end up with a bunch of my opponent's forces down there without being able to get to anywhere useful so it worked out well enough in the end.

Mid-week gaming this week was Chaos vs. Chaos in Warhammer Underworlds: the Gorechosen of Dromm against Khagra's Ravagers!

It ended up being a draw at 10-10, but I was extremely happy with that because JESUS CHRIST @[email protected]'s rolling was on FIRE. I think he saved against every single attack I made for the like the first turn and a half with the exception of one initial wallop from the Gorehulk, but the most ridiculous was me rolling two dice on attack and rolling two crits, and to avoid Khagra dying he needed to roll two crits on defence ...which he pulled off.

I guess it makes up for the absolute wholloping I gave him last time. 😅
