A photo of six barricades that come up to about chest height on the miniature that's standing behind them. They're all segmented and gears and teethed tracks on the inside that makes it looks like they can be expanded or collapsed in width. They're all painted in brown and look like they're completely rusty.

That's the barricades done, and with that, all the small bits of the terrain! Next stop, the full size pieces.

Two pieces of terrain from the Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team: Octarius box. They're both walls but EXTREMELY ramshackle made from scrap, like corrugated metal and panels and part what looks like the door from a vehicle and so on. It's all totally worn and rusted-out.

Another piece of scrap wall in the same fashion as the first, this one has what looks like part of a big tank (the container not the vehicle) and rather incongruously has several coloured lights strung along the top of the wall.

Got the scrap walls finished too! I tried doing some lighting effects with the globes, with varying degrees of success. This was a little bit more work than the last terrain bits, but not by too much, and it was mostly mucking around trying to get the globes looking decent.

A photo of three of the terrain scrap/junk piles from the Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team: Octarius box that came out in July last year and has remained shamefully unpainted until now. They're all just a jumble of pipes and scraps of metal and fans and fuel tank and gears and such, and all are brown and worn and rusty-looking.

Well, they're not going to win any awards, but I reckon that's a pretty decent result for about two and a half hours work. A friend pointed out that I should really just drybrush my damn Kill Team: Octarius terrain and get it over with, and it turns out he's not wrong! I'm going to wait to do the really large pieces until my extra-large drybrush arrives though. (High Elf for scale.)

Tonight's game of Kill Team went very differently from the first one a few weeks ago! I ended up absolutely thrashing the friend I was playing against, 8 victory points to 3, and we didn't end up playing the fourth turn because he was down to one single unit at the end of the third. Though he kindly pointed out after the game that my deployment was very bad and he held back a bit from just totally destroying my troops on the first turn so it wouldn't be a lopsided game. 😅

We actually finished the game! 😮 I lost, partially because we weren't playing with the extra bits to allow for more victory points to simplify things, but also because there was so much to keep track of I kept forgetting about various abilities. Still, keen for the next game!

A photo of nine six-sided dice, three of them are sixes, two are fives, and there's two twos and two threes.

We played another (partial) game of Kill Team tonight! And for the first time EVER, everything was fully painted. 😮 We only got a turn and a half in thanks to us taking a while to set everything up, but we're definitely getting the hang of it. I was playing Death Guard, and they have a rule called "Disgustingly Resilient" where if they would lose a wound, you roll a D6 and on a roll of 5+ the wound is not lost. It doesn't matter how many wounds, just ANY wound. One of them was attacked and was going to be dealt 9 wounds (out of a total of 12), but my Disguisingly Resilient roll was amazing and I was able to reduce it down to 4. 😂

We FINALLY got a game of the new Kill Team in! We played without tac-ops or equipment just to streamline things a bit, and only got two out of the four turns done, but it was really good, can't wait to play more.

A photo of a bunch of orks from the Warhammer 40,000 universe. As befits them, they're a very ramshackle bunch, wearing all sorts of differently-shaped armour and carrying weapons of very dubious quality.

There we go, got all the orks from the new Kill Team box assembled and undercoated! Next up will be getting back on with actually painting, I think I'm going to start with the Tyranids because they're extremely simple.

A photo of the three measuring gauges from Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team. One is long and thin with stylised skulls and a red pentagon. The other two are two halves of an isosceles trapezoid with a white circle, blue square, and black triangle on three of their edges, and half of a large skull with a knife under it on either side. They're all painted to look like worn brass.

Easing my way back into painting by starting with the combat gauges.
