I know the bases of miniatures aren't the most exciting things, but I'm seriously stoked with how these came out and wanted to photograph them separately before the miniatures themselves are glued on. I immediately thought of snow and ice when I saw the bases, rather than dirt and rubble, and it's excellent to have something a bit different! (The feet are molded to the bases if you're wondering).

My creative refresh day was a success! I always forget how much slower it is painting with regular paints as opposed to the Contrast ones though... the brown metallic-looking bits are the same darker silver underneath, I started at 9am and it look me until about 2:45pm to finish doing just those silver bits. All the rest of the colours were done from then until I finished at 5:30pm! I'll finish them off over the weekend.

We went over to a friend's place today and played our first game of four-player Warhammer Underworlds! The two friends who'd never played it before ended up coming first and second, haha. I played the Wurmspat for the first time and lost horribly, the dice gods SHAT on me, both for rolling my own dice and having my successful attacks all defended against. Still had a lot of fun though!

We're doing a "creative refresh day" at work during March, where you can expense up to $50 for some hobby you enjoy, and you take a day to just... do that hobby, rather than working. So naturally I ordered yet another warband for Warhammer Underworlds and will be painting them next Friday! (I ordered this yesterday just before midday, it arrived today just after midday. 😮)

Tonight Kristina and I played Warhammer Underworlds: Beastgrave again, this time with fully painted miniatures (🎉), and GOD DAMN it was a close game! She was smashing me by the middle of the 2nd round, my leader was out of action as were two others and I only had two left. I managed to pull off a win though, by one single glory point. Champion of the match goes to Karthaen who was upgraded to be an absolute BEAST and single-handedly took out three enemy fighters on his own.

Bam, that's Gashrak Fellhoof done. Really happy with how he turned out, I've been experimenting with getting the best colours for drybrushing and actually ended up using Cadian Fleshtone for the highlight colour on his fur and his red top and hood. I just need to add glossy varnish to the blood on his knife so it looks wet!

I can't emphasise how much I love Games Workshop's "Contrast" paints. It took me a bit under two hours to go from nothing but undercoat to this point.

The ungors are done! I still need to varnish them before I take proper DSLR photos, but you're meant to do it between 15° and 25°, and both today and tomorrow are going to be above 40°. D:
