I'm in the office today for a team event, we ordered in a bunch of pastry-type stuff for a celebration in the morning and were originally planning on going to the beach but changed that plan yesterday after seeing the weather. So we managed to get a reservation to go indoor go-karting, got on the train at Wynyard and weren't even at Town Hall when the organiser got a call from the go-karting place saying it was cancelled because they were flooded. >_<

A photo of a game of Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team. The board looks like the metal of the inside of an ancient steampunk starship, and the terrain is a bunch of walls all connected together in the same steampunk style to form number of interconnecting rooms. Closest to the camera are the xenomorphs from Aliens pretending to be Genestealers, painted in a very dark blue colour. On the left are the six hulking and putrid Death Guard in large military green amour with all sorts of tentacles and demon faces coming out of the armour. On the right side are six Ultramarines of broadly the same shape armour as the Death Guard, but it's a rich blue and doesn't have tentacles and demon faces in it.

Sunday night Kill Team tonight was a three-player match, Death Guard versus the Space Marines of Strike Force Justinian versus a Tyranid squad of just Genestealers, on the Gallowdark map. My friend who was playing Genestealers actually used the xenomorph miniatures from one of Aliens games and it looked SO COOL having them lurking around inside an old ruined starship! We only got through three turns rather than the full four, the Genestealers won 5:4:4, but it really could have gone any way, and I was in with a pretty solid shot of winning if we'd had time to play the final turn. Most ridiculous moment of the game was one of my regular Death Guard Warriors being on two wounds left, getting smacked in the face for five melee damage from a Genestealer, and rolling FOUR successful Disgustingly Resilient rolls so he only took one wound so he had a chance to hit back and take the Genestealer down from its starting 8 wounds down to 3. There was also a very cinematic moment of the Genestealer leader fighting in close combat against the Space Marine leader (the Space Marine leader got utterly shredded).

A photo of five Assault Intercessor Space Marines. They're all wearing standard massive Space Marine armour with big shoulder pads, and they all look like they're mid-stride. They've got pistols and chainswords, and the one on the left has a grenade in her hand and looks like she's about to lob it. None of them have helmets and they've all got either mohawks or very short cropped hair and various cybernetic implants.

A photo of five regular Intercessor Space Marines wearing much the same armour as the Assault Intercessors. These ones are armed with very large two-handed bolt rifles, two are pointing the rifles and yelling like they're in the middle of laying down a hail of fire, the sergeant is holding hers upright just by the grip and is pointing with her other hand, the fourth is standing there like she's keeping watch, and the final one has a pair of grenades in one hand and looks like she's just about to throw them. They're also all bare-headed with cybernetic implants.

Yesssss, got my converted all-women Intercession squad assembled and undercoated! Extremely stoked at how well these have come out, in particular the one from each squad with the grenades since none of the sculpts actually have them holding grenades (one of the operatives for the Assault Intercessors is specifically a grenadier and I wanted to make it obvious which one that was, and if I don't take her I'd be taking the regular Intercessor with grenade as an added equipment). I even went to the level of detail of chopping off the grip from one of the spare holsters and fitting it properly onto the empty pistol holster that the grenade-lady from the Assault Intercessors has, since she's holding a grenade instead of a pistol. I also chopped off all the helmets and attached them to the belts of every single one of them, to show that they still HAVE their helmets, they're just too cool to wear them. 😛 I'm going to paint them in Blood Angels colours, mostly because the red and black scheme is quite striking and I've never painted Blood Angels before.
